Nepeta cataria L., also known as Cardamine, Cardamine, Artemisia quadrangularis and perilla, is a perennial plant in the genus Schizonepeta of Labiatae. Stem strong, base lignified, much branched, 40-150 cm high, base subquadrangular, upper obtuse quadrangular, with shallow groove, white pubescent. It is used to dry stems, leaves and flowers. Fresh bud is the best for children. Schizonepeta tenuifolia leaves are yellow green, stems are square and purple, cross section is yellow white, ears are slightly black and purple yellow green. It is mild, nontoxic, clear and fragrant. Schizonepeta tenuifolia is a sweating and antipyretic drug. It is one of the commonly used Chinese herbal medicines. It can relieve phlegm, dispel wind and cool blood. For influenza, headache, sweating and vomiting.
