Yohimbe is used to arouse sexual excitement, for erectile dysfunction (ED), sexual problems caused by medications for depression called selective-serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), and general sexual problems in both men and women. It is also used for athletic performance, weight loss, exhaustion, chest pain, high blood pressure, low blood pressure that occurs when standing up,diabetic nerve pain, and for depression along with certain other medications.

 

Yohimbine is an indole alkaloid derived from the bark of the Central African yohimbine tree (Pausiny taliayohimbe) that is widely used as an herbal therapy for erectile dysfunction. Yohimbe use has been associated with occasional severe adverse events, but has not been linked to serum enzyme elevations or clinically apparent acute liver injury.

Yohimbine HCL is available as a drug called yohimbine hcl for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. Appearance is white to milky white fine powder, slightly fragrant, bitter and astringent, melting point 288ºC~290ºC, soluble in chloroform, soluble in methanol,ethanol, and slightly soluble in water.
