Sodium alginate is a by-product of extracting iodine and mannitol from kelp or Sargassum β-D- Mannuronic acid( β-D-mannuronic , m) and α-L- Guluronic acid( α-L-guluronic It is a kind of natural polysaccharide, which has the stability, solubility, viscosity and safety of pharmaceutical excipients. Sodium alginate has been widely used in food industry and medicine.

Sodium alginate is white or light yellow powder, almost odorless and tasteless. Sodium alginate is soluble in water, but insoluble in ethanol, ether,  and other organic solvents. Dissolve in water to form viscous liquid, 1% aqueous solution pH value is 6-8. When the pH value is 6-9, the viscosity is stable. When the temperature is above 80 ºC, the viscosity decreases. Sodium alginate is non-toxic, LD50 > 5000mg / kg. The effect of chelating agent on the properties of sodium alginate solution the chelating agent can chelate the divalent ions in the system, making sodium alginate stable in the system.

India Textile Industry

Printing paste: sodium alginate is an ideal paste in printing application. It is a light yellow powder with positive charge. It is mutually exclusive with cationic reactive dyes and will not covalently combine with reactive dyes to promote dye sizing. It is widely used in the printing of cotton, hemp, silk and synthetic fibers. The printed product has clear and bright pattern, high color supply, high color fastness, good handle, good plasticity and permeability, and the finished product is soft and elastic with good handle, so it is widely used in pigment printing.

Both medium and low viscosity sodium alginate are suitable for screen printing and manual printing. It has the rheological property of pseudoplastic property, that is, thinning after shearing, and recovering the original viscosity after losing shearing. It is suitable for printing fine patterns, large floor covering and wet cover printing. It has the characteristics of fine lines, clear outline and good uniformity in large area printing. The water solubility is good, the water absorption is strong, has the higher beating foaming rate, and the calcium ion can form the heat irreversible gel.
