Berberine is a kind of isoquinoline alkaloids, extracted from the rhizome of Coptis Chinensis (also called Chinese Goldthread).Coptis chinensis extract berberine is yellow powder, soluble in water and hardly soluble in benzene,  chloroform or other organic solvents.

Berberine powder has strong yellow color, and it is often used as a dye for wool, leather, and wood.
Berberine powder has a lot of health benefits. In Chinese Traditional Medicine, berberine is used for its antibacterial property,and some studies show that it also has potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. Application

Berberine HCl was commonly used for its antidiarrheal and antibiotic properties.
