Function & Application

Memantine hydrochloride is a new type of non-competitive N-methyl-D-aspartic acid (NMDA) receptor antagonist with low or moderate affinity, voltage dependence and non-competition. It can block NMDA receptor non-competitively, reduce the over-excitation of NMDA receptor induced by glutamate, prevent apoptosis and improve memory. It is a new generation of drugs to improve cognitive function. Studies have shown that memantine hydrochloride is also effective in patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease.
