Product Description

Anethole is an organic compound that is widely used as a flavoring substance. It is a derivative of phenylpropene, a type of aromatic compound that occurs widely in nature, in essential oils. It contributes a large component of the odor and flavor of anise and fennel (both in the botanical family Apiaceae), anise myrtle (Myrtaceae), liquorice (Fabaceae), camphor, magnolia blossoms, and star anise (Illiciaceae).

Function & Application

Natural aniseed brain naturally exists in the essential oil of star anise and cumin. It has the smell of fennel, spice and licorice. It is commonly used in vanilla, fennel, cherry and mint flavors. It is approved for use in China GB2760-1996. For spices, the recommended dosage is about 11 to 1500 mg/kg in the final flavored food. Anethole as a drug, has a certain therapeutic effect on leukopenia caused by chemotherapy or radiotherapy, and leukopenia caused by other causes.  Anethole has a large proportion of consumption as an anisaldehyde.

 

Anethole is used as a fennel flavor and licorice flavor in the flavoring of foods, especially cakes. It is also used in beverages. It is also widely used in aromas such as apricot, medlar, and bayberry, as well as toothpaste and gargle. In addition, fennel is also used as a flavoring agent and an odorant for pharmaceuticals, a fragrance for cosmetics and soaps, a raw material for synthetic drugs, and a sensitizer for color photography. In the presence of p-aminobenzenesulfonic acid, fennel (or essential oil containing fennel) is oxidized with ozone, nitric acid, potassium permanganate or ruthenium sulphate to obtain anisaldehyde (p-methoxybenzaldehyde)
